Job Title: PROBATIONARY TROOPER

Job Summary:
A Trooper is to serve in a highly responsible capacity in the protection of life and property, preserves the public peace, prevents crimes, arrests violators of the law, enforces all laws and local ordinances set forth by the government of Florida and performs other work that is related or assigned by senior command. A Trooper serves as an official member of law enforcement within the State of Florida. Troopers are expected to utilize the minimum force necessary to carry out their duties and are required to handle a variety of situations. This includes possible life-threatening situations or even general stressful situations that may test the patience of an individual.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs traffic enforcement and investigates traffic accidents;
Provides information and assistance to pedestrians, motorists, and the general public when needed;
Manages an assigned area in efforts to prevent crime or to deter violence;
Conducts radar checks and issues warning / citations for traffic violations;
Responds to armed robberies, assaults, house alarms, and other types of emergency situations;
Attends trainings, meetings, and conferences when asked by a supervisor;
Eliminates public hazards and promotes general peace;
Renders aid to the sick and injured, maintain public safety;
Testifies in court where needed in a certain types of cases;
Negotiates and resolves situations with several different types of victims or suspects;
Responds to reported crime scenes, taking action to secure the scene: interviewing witnesses, scene control- traffic control;
Performs other duties as asked or assigned in compliance with department standards and expectations.
Preferred Skillsets:
The ability to react in an emergency and make rational, sound decisions- demonstrating good judgment;
The ability to communicate with others and defuse situations before escalating them;
Good time management skills and availability to the department;
Safely operate light passenger vehicles, such as assigned department vehicles in high-speed situations
Basic law enforcement knowledge, practice, and judgment. Experience is preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age (in-game character) and a legal resident of Florida;
Recruitment and selection process will involve a written form, oral interview, and extensive background checks
Preferred experience in other law enforcement departments, though this is not required- only preferred.
Any person with a felony conviction or outstanding warrants is ineligible for consideration of employment by the San Andreas Department of Public Safety.
